IRS Audits and Examinations:
If your tax returns are selected for examination, we could assist in the following ways:
- Represent you by meeting with the Revenue Agent so that you do not have to meet with the IRS personally.
- Assist you or your CPA by providing tax guidance and providing information regarding IRS law and procedures.
- If you disagree with the IRS determination, the decision could be appealed to the Appeals Division or a Tax Court Petition could be filed.
IRS Collection Problems:
If you are contacted by a Revenue Officer or by mail regarding the collection of unpaid taxes, we could provide the following services:
- Meet or contact the IRS on your behalf through a Power of Attorney so that the IRS cannot contact you personally.
- If you are unable to pay the taxes in full, there are several alternatives such as:
a. Secure an installment agreement to pay the taxes over a period of time;
b. Secure a determination that you are unable to make payments and that the IRS should suspend all collection activity;
c. Determine whether an Offer in Compromise is feasible to settle your IRS debt for less than the amount owed;
d. Explore other issues such as innocent spouse or injured spouse options.
Debt Problems:
Bankruptcy can help resolve the following problems:
- Chapter 7 bankruptcies can be used to discharge unsecured debts such as credit cards, medical bills, judgments and other unsecured debts. It will also stop harassing telephone calls, bank garnishments, etc.
- In certain cases, a bankruptcy can be used to either discharge income tax liabilities or force the IRS into a payment plan under a Chapter 13 bankruptcy.
